In August 2022, Karyat Dry Dock Works and Boatyard was officially appointed as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) to "Design and Manufacture Houseboats, Shikaras, Floating Jetties, Passenger Terminals, Boat Repair Facility and Staffing, Training and Management of Boat Crew". Since then, our team of experienced professionals is dedicated on bringing this unique vision to life and we have come a long way in this endeavour.

The Vision

The project envisions construction of a luxurious, 4-bedroom cruising houseboat with a capacity of 72 passengers for the Tripura Tourism Development and Corporation Limited, designed to provide an unforgettable experience on the scenic waters of Dumboor Lake for the tourists visiting Narikel Kunja and Dumboor Lake while also providing job opportunities to the local population. To enable this vision at Dumboor, where there is neither the infrastructure nor trained personnel to  operate a houseboat, it became our top priority as the PMC to look into each and every enabling infrastructure- physical and social, required to make this ambitious project come to life. 

Our vision is to design and deliver a project that would set the benchmark for all future water based tourism projects of the state, create an exclusive tourist destination and support local community growth, all while ensuring an eco-friendly and culturally enriching experience. 

Scope

 

1.Construction of Houseboats and Shikaras, Dry Dock, Terminals and Jetties

Provide technical design, drawings, terms and cost estimates for floating tender inviting contractors to build the boats. 

Technical evaluation of the bids and selection of contractors from the list of successful bidders.

Project progress monitoring and handover of the assets to the Client after necessary tests and trials.​​

2.Staffing, Training and Management of Personnel for Houseboats, Shikaras and Dry Dock

Prepare masterplan and costing to identify agencies for:

Recruitment of trained manpower for manning houseboats, shikaras, workshop and dry dock.

Training of local manpower in hospitality management, operation and maintenance of boats and dry dock through the selected third party.

3.Houseboat Tourism Packaging

​

Conceive tour packages based on Kerala houseboat tourism model.
